An Example of How to Edit ‘til You Get It

Original Question and incorrect answer:

At a store, hot dogs come in packages of ten and hot dog buns come in packages of six. What is the least number of packages of each type that you can buy and have no hot dogs or buns left over.   Remember to label your numbers and show your work.

Hot Dogs (10) – 1, 2, 5, 10

Hot Dog Buns (6) – 1, 2, 3, 6                              Answer = 2

Edited Version:

I got this problem wrong because I found the factors of the packages instead of the multiples.   I also did not write a complete labeled sentence for my answer.  What I should have done was find the multiples of each package and from that find the Least Common Multiple (LCM).

Hot Dogs (10) – 10, 20, 30, 40, 50

Hot Dog Buns (6) – 6, 12, 18, 24, 30,

Since the LCM of both products is 30 that means I would have to by three packages of Hot Dogs and five packages of Hot Dog Buns in order to not have any left over food. I know this because Hot Dogs come in packages of ten and 30/10 = 3 packages and Hot Dog Buns come in packages of six and 30/6 = 5 packages

The least number of packages I need to buy to have no left overs is 3 packages of hot dog buns and 5 packages of hot dogs.
