Honor society

National Junior Honor Society

For many students, being a part of the National Junior Honor Society is the pinnacle of their achievements in school. The honor comes from both public recognition of accomplishment, and personal commitment to continued excellence. Because of this, there are qualifications for a member. The society grants membership based on the student’s academic achievement, leadership, service, citizenship, and character.

Scholarship requirements are based on the student’s GPA. The student must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.3. Each semester, GPA’s are checked. If a student’s GPA falls below the minimum, they will be on academic prohibition for the next semester. If the GPA is raised to a 3.3 the next semester, the student may rejoin. If the GPA remains below the minimum, the student will not be able to rejoin until their GPA returns to at least a 3.3.

Service is a very important part of being a National Junior Honor Society member.
Service is considered actions undertaken by the student on behalf of others with no financial or material compensation. The eligible member must complete a minimum of 8 service hours (4 hours for new members), and participate in a Society organized event.

Sixth grade students are eligible for membership at the end of first semester.
